Nice Little Gift

While in Seattle, Sean Casey of the Boston Red Sox got to catch up with Eddie Vedder, on Wednesday. Casey brought home with him quite the prize: a personalized Fender Telecaster that Vedder used in a recording.

“I can’t play guitar, I don’t think he knows that, but I’m going to learn now. I’ve always wanted to and this is going to be the incentive,” said Casey, a longtime Pearl Jam fan.

He said Vedder once paid a visit to Cincinnati when Casey played for the Reds and played a song in the clubhouse. Casey gave him a bat then. What goes around, comes around: On the back of the guitar, Vedder inscribed, “Love to you Sean, Eddie Vedder.”

Townshend Talked Eddie Vedder Out Of Retiring

Just a short but interesting blurb but in a recent email to Rolling Stone magazine, Pete Townshend revealed that in 1993 he talked Eddie Vedder out of retiring from Pearl Jam, and music. In the email, Townshend praised the bands performance during the recent VH1 Rock Honors tribute show to The Who adding, "It sounded amazing. Eddie seems to be very shiny these days. To think he nearly quit in 1993 and went back to some surfing beach."

"Lucky he came to speak to Uncle Pete. I told him - submit."
