[edit] Bio

Sleater-Kinney was an indie-rock band hailing from Portland, Oregon. The group was founded by Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein in 1995. Both played guitar for the group (it had no formal bass player). Laura Macfarlane and Toni Grogin drummed for the band in periods between 1995 and 1997 until Janet Weiss took over in 1997 for the album Dig Me Out; she would be the drummer for the rest of the band's run. The group released seven albums, with the last being 2005's critically acclaimed The Woods. On June 27, 2006, the band announced they were going on indefinite hiatus with no future plans for recordings or tours. They played their last show on August 12, 2006.
