From WikiJam
Stone Carpenter Gossard (born July 20, 1966) is a musician known for his work in grunge rock bands based in Seattle, Washington, most notably Pearl Jam. His first band was March of Crimes, and he was a founding member of Green River, Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog, and Pearl Jam. In addition, he is also a member of the side project, Brad. In Pearl Jam, he primarily plays rhythm guitar but has played numerous other instruments on their records, including bass, mellotron, and lead vocals. In Brad, he plays guitar, backing vocals, and the seldom bass or drums. He makes significant songwriting contributions in all of his bands.
In 1992 he appeared in the movie Singles. Gossard and Jeff Ament spoke out against Ticketmaster at a Congressional hearing in 1994. For a time he ran his own record company "Loosegroove Records". In 2001, he released his first solo album, Bayleaf.
Stone is the only band member that has been there since day 1 that has missed a show. When Pearl Jam opened a show for The Who on September 29, 2002 at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL Stone had another commitment and couldn't be there, instead the band had put up a lifesize cardboard cut out of him.
