Eddie Vedder to Play Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg
Pearl Jam has never played on the continent of Africa, but they'll get close this December when Eddie joins Beyoncé and Jay-Z for the Manela 100: Global Citizen Festival on December 2nd at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This free-ticketed event will celebrate the centenary year of Nelson Mandela, honoring his legacy in the fight to end extreme poverty.
"It is such an honor to be given the chance to head to South Africa to celebrate Nelson Mandela's incomparable legacy. He showed an entire generation what it means to be a leader and make a difference for the world's poor. I'm so grateful that this event will serve as a reminder of his great work and inspire us all to carry on in his name," said Eddie.

If you were excited about the introduction of "The Home Shows" Brown Sugar Bourbon, maybe you'll also be happy that Seattle breweries, Fremont Brewing and Georgetown Brewing, are joining forces to create "The Home Shows" Seattle Pale Ale, donating $2 from every six-pack to Pearl Jam's Vitalogy Foundation.
According to Matt Edwards, the Research and Development Brewer at Georgetown Brewing, Home Shows Seattle Pale Ales is “an easy drinking pale that skips out on the bitterness while boasting aromas and flavors of fresh mandarin orange, ripened pineapple and honeydew melon.”Look for the beer in Seattle starting July 20th. No word on distribution outside of Washington state.
