This week, Rolling Stone announced 14 artists that they are calling "The New Immortals," artists that are performing/recording right now that will stand the test of time. Among the honorees are Taylor Swift, Wilco, Beyoncé, and Pearl Jam.
Rolling Stone points out that by focusing on music Pearl Jam's been able to scale back any and all traditional marketing and still sell out any arena almost instantly.
