Is Pearl Jam Immortal?

This week, Rolling Stone announced 14 artists that they are calling "The New Immortals," artists that are performing/recording right now that will stand the test of time.  Among the honorees are Taylor Swift, Wilco, BeyoncĂ©, and Pearl Jam.

Rolling Stone points out that by focusing on music Pearl Jam's been able to scale back any and all traditional marketing and still sell out any arena almost instantly.

What do you think?  Will we be listening to Pearl Jam in 3023?

Have You Checked Out The 2nd 3rd Secret?

Summers are full of trips and vacations, and lets be honest, the album isn't that easy to find, but in case you missed it ... Matt Cameron's project, 3rd Secret, with Kim Thayil, Krist Novoselic, Bubba Dupree, Jennifer Johnson, and Jillian Raye, released their second album (cover art inspired by Salvador Dali's La Divine Comédie), The 2nd 3rd Secret, last month.

As expected, it sounds great.  You can check it out on digital formats (like Spotify), and ONLY digital formats.  Give it a listen if you haven't already!

Pre-Order Catastrophic Metamorphic

Ten Club has announced the pre-order sale of Deaf Charlie's debut album, Catastrophic Metamorhic.  Jeff Ament and his friend, drummer, John Wicks, have recorded 12 songs, including two previously released songs, "Something Real" and "Sitting Around at Home."

“There’s a real optimism in this batch of mostly dystopian themes, and that comes from John’s upbeat production and playing, he infused a lot of pop and reggae elements into the songs, pushing my arrangements and rhythms into new territory. Most of these tunes had real journeys between our two visions.” - Jeff Ament
The album is currently available for pre-order at the Ten Club on "clear blue/white galaxy effect" vinyl for $30 (+$10 domestic S&H), but the standard black vinyl will be available on the June 30th release date.

Check out the video for the first single, Losing My Mind, and the tracklisting below.

Possible Title for Deaf Charlie Album

Last time we checked in with Deaf Charlie, their debut album was headed to a vinyl pressing.  Now, Jeff Ament has tweeted out two images with little context.  It looks like it might be a cover for the album, Catastrophic Metamorphic, and a shot of blue swirling vinyl and two song titles, Too Great and Losing My Mind.  The post is a little vague, but we've got a Pearl Jam newsletter coming on Saturday, so there may be news on the way!
