Pearl Jam Hits the Road This Week ... Sans Opening Acts

Last month, Pearl Jam's fan club announced a couple of opening acts for Oklahoma, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest.  It now appears as though those will be the only shows with opening acts.  The rest of us will be getting, what is usually termed "An Evening with Pearl Jam."

Buried in the confirmation e-mails for all shows but the ones mentioned above was this snippet.
6. Doors open at 6:00pm. There will not be an opener for this show. Pearl Jam will start at 7:30pm. Ten Club will call windows close at 9:15pm. All times subject to change.
Some of us who were around for the 2003 and 2004 tours remember Eddie taking the stage for a song or two before the opening acts, and we can hold out a hope for that, or maybe just longer sets by Pearl Jam.  It could be that the band itself isn't sure.  Eddie Vedder recently told fans:
This tour, it will be interesting, because we’ve got a whole bunch of new material that I think sounds great live that we enjoy playing.

We’re always trying to gauge how open people are to experimenting with us. I kind of through the ether feel like maybe it’s the time to do that (experiment) and I think it might be really interesting in that some interesting, really weird, cool shit might come from that. It’s better to try and fail than to not try at all.
What does all this mean for your Pearl Jam experience this fall? We'll know more by the weekend! The tour starts in Pittsburgh,

Friday night,

at 7:15,

with Pearl Jam.
