Jeff Ament's Favorite Songs of 2017

Rolling Stone asked Jeff Ament for his favorite songs of 2017 in their latest issue (February 8-22,2018, Migos cover).  Here is what he picked.

Mourning Sound by Grizzly Bear

"This has it all: killer bass and drms, both voices, signature guitar cords, and great lyrics.  Probably my favorite band of the past few years."

Snowflake by Gord Downie

"Gord made an unbelievable swan song of an album.  I cried the whole first listen.  So beautiful and honest."

Why Didn't You Say That by Lemon Twigs

"I hear Queen, Beatles, 10cc and other radical prog-pop that I haven't heard since Jellyfish left us.  Killer harmonies and incredible instrumental interplay."

Deadly Valentine by Charlotte Gainsbourg

"This is lyrically centered around Christian wedding vows, with a tinge of sarcasm.  I love the big synth production."

Shoot 'Em Down by U-Men

"Sub Pop released the whole U-Men catalog in one package.  This song takes me back to the heyday of Seattle music."
